It’s been a busy and noisy start to 2021 in the studio and I’m excited to share some brand new work!

Last month I was back working with the team at KOALA providing music composition, sound design and audio post-production services on the new UK ad campaign for SMARTLIFE; the adaptive spectacle lenses designed and manufactured by international optics technology giant ZEISS. The campaign consists of a 30” advert for linear TV and Video on Demand, as well as three video adverts for Social.

“It’s time you saw the bigger picture”

That’s exactly what ZEISS want to show you with SMARTLIFE, and it’s exactly what you can see by hitting play on the TV advert below! You’ll also hear my audio design of a city skatepark and a new original music track called SKYLINE.

The TV ad is live across linear and On-Demand satellite channels. On the social media side, there are three x 10” adverts running across FACEBOOK and INSTAGRAM. One of these is a re-edited version of the TV ad, with the other two swapping out the skatepark for a market and an airport.

With no voiceover on the social media ads, I had to pay extra attention to the impact and blend of the music and sound design, to leave a lasting impression on the audience within a tight 10 seconds. I did this by really emphasising the visual transition from the old glasses to the ZEISS SMARTLIFE pair. I deliberately muffled and darkened the tone of the sound before the switch, and transitioned to brighter, more detailed sounds afterwards.

Seeing (and hearing) the bigger picture!

I had a lot of fun on this project, especially working on some new music. SKYLINE has the perfect style and energy for use on advertising projects like this and I’ll be looking to license it for use on future projects. I’ve put a little snippet of SKYLINE below so that you can hear it on it’s own. If you want to know more about licensing music or sourcing audio post-production services for your next project, please feel free to GET IN TOUCH.

I’ll be back soon with news of another really cool project I’ve just wrapped up. Until then…

Keep your eyes on the bigger picture!
