Christmas is all around us and the end of this… eventful year is just around the corner, so it felt like the perfect time to share my last piece of TV work of 2020.

For me professionally 2020 has been a year of two halves - the second far better than the first! I’m thrilled to finish what has been a challenging year on a high and it’s been particularly gratifying to see so much of my work broadcast on TV. I’ve been lucky enough to work with some amazing collaborators and clients, both old and new, on a really diverse and high quality slate of productions. The last of these productions to air in 2020 is the UK TV ad for HAVEN’T THEY GROWN; the hugely successful novel by British author SOPHIE HANNAH.

HAVEN’T THEY GROWN is yet another critically-acclaimed smash hit from “the queen of the psychological thriller”, whom I have come to learn is also a Manchester native. A nice little bonus given the location of my studio! The book has garnered rave reviews across the board; “Ingenious” said HEAT magazine, whilst the OBSERVER described it as “complex and sinister”. If that sounds like your cup of tea, it would make a perfect stocking-filler!

Whilst the book was released earlier this year, this new advert was aimed squarely at the Christmas and New Year TV markets. The advert was animated and produced by KOALA for publisher HODDER & STOUGHTON, with my contribution being sound design, audio post-production, and even a bespoke piece of music titled DIVIDE AND MULTIPLY. I’m aiming to flesh out the 20 second cue of DIVIDE AND MULTIPLY used in the ad into a full track next year as I really love the dark and mysterious vibe of the music. Anyone familiar with my portfolio will know that those adjectives often fit my music like a glove!

Well that’s it, 2020 is officially a wrap for my studio. Whilst the rest of the world has been a strange and challenging place at times this year, the studio has always been a little sanctuary for me. Having the opportunity to work on such great productions this year has been fantastic and gave me an excuse to escape into my own little creative world.

These blog posts are a cathartic way to share my creations with a few curious readers. To all of you who have read, watched, listened to, or engaged with my work in any way this year, I’d like to thank you from the bottom of my heart. It brings a lot of joy.

Here’s wishing you a MERRY CHRISTMAS and I’ll be back in 2021!
